The Dual-Use Technology Exploitation (DUTE) programme was officially established in September 2015, following a confirmed Industry and Government fund of £10.3 million. The total programme value includes £6.5 million of Government funding from the Advanced Manufacturing Supply Chain Initiative (AMSCI) 2014 competition and will support the creation of more than 140 new jobs and safeguard a further 190 jobs across 15 partners up to 2019.
DUTE was created as an output from the Defence Growth Partnership’s Value Chain Competitiveness Team, which is chaired by Steve Fitz-Gerald, Chief Executive Officer, Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group. Today, the programme brings SMEs, Suppliers, Primes and Academics together with the endorsement of the Defence Growth Partnership.
The aim is to strengthen and boost UK economic growth by:
- Harnessing a UK community of innovative SMEs, Universities and leading UK Industry partners
- Identifying the best technologies from adjacent defence and civil sectors and ensuring they are put to dual-use through the DUTE community
- Supporting and growing this community to ensure it is capable of fully exploiting business growth opportunities from dual-use technology in adjacent sectors
- Bringing together public and private investors seeking to draw on the very best emerging technologies from both sectors
